How to Become a Pharmacy Technician in North Carolina

There are a few basic requirements to get in to formal training at pharmacy tech schools or with your employer. You’ll need a HS diploma/equivalent, or be enrolled in high school to become a pharmacy tech in this state. All candidates will also need to register for a work permit in pharmacy assisting with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy.

Fulfill all Required Clinical Training

Pass Certification Testing

There are two nationally-accepted pharmacy technician certification exams you can choose to take for certification in North Carolina. They are the PTCE and ExCPT. Both are nationally-recognized and give the title of Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT).
