What is the process to become a pharmacy tech in Florida?
The simple but efficient four-part process for becoming a certified pharmacy technician in Florida is shown below. Becoming a pharmacy tech is much easier than many may think.
Step 1: Choose if you are Going for Your Florida CPHT Certification
In Florida you have to be a minimum of 17 years old and have your high school diploma/GED to be employed as a pharmacy tech. The Florida State Board of Pharmacy is in charge of all licensing in the state. You don’t have to be certified as a pharmacy tech in Florida to work. But you do have to complete accredited training to become a pharmacy technician in Florida.

Step 3: Finish the program and complete the required internship hours
The third step in our four step process is to take accredited pharm tech training and graduate from the accredited program. Once you do so you can take the PTCE certification exam to get certified if you so choose.
Step 4: Pass the Certification Exam (PTCE)
After you take and pass the PTCE ($129 fee included) you will have to register with the state of Florida. Register with the Florida State Board of Pharmacy to gain your licensure. Just apply to the FSBP and provide your proof of pharmacy technician training completion, pay $50 application fee and a $55 registration fee. Your pharm tech license will need to be renewed every two years by paying another $55 fee along with 20 hours of training every two years.
