Step 1: Do you plan to become certified in Alaska?
The Alaska Board of Pharmacy has a requirement that all pharmacy technicians must be 18 years old, have a HS diploma/GED and no criminal convictions in order to register with the Board of Pharmacy in Alaska and begin working as a pharmacy technician. Alaska pharmacy technicians also have to wear name tags that clearly identify their position on the job and on to of that they have to complete at least 40 hours of training before they can prepare pharmaceuticals. The allied health program is prepared for Alaska health care workers and students with a certificate or coursework in an allied health care program. Meet the minimum requirements listed below and you can be admitted in to the allied health program for pharmacy technician training.
1 – All candidates have to have 54 quarter credit hours in a allied health care concentration or they have to be a graduate from a health related field training program (Some examples are Dental Assisting, Medical Office Administrative Assisting, Medical Assisting, Pharmacy Technician and Veterinary Assisting to name a few).
2 – Certificate/diploma or coursework has to be completed at a U.S. Department of Education or the (CHEA) Council for Higher Education Accreditation recognized training program and also it must be confirmed with official transcripts.
3 – Students have to have a GPA above 2.0 from the previous educational institution.
Step 3: Finish Your Pharmacy Tech Training in Alaska
