Step 1 – Are you Choosing to get Your Certification?

Certification is not mandated by law in Minnesota for medical assistants. But, it is strongly suggested for a few reasons. One is the higher chance of employment and two is the better pay scale (to name a few). That being said, there is work for non-certified MAs in the state and that cannot be discounted.

Step 3 – Select Accredited Training for Medical Assisting in Minnesota

the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools and the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs are the two regulating associations for medical assisting in Minnesota. If you attend and pass one of their approved courses, you will be in your way to getting certified. if you don’t attend a program approved by them, you cannot sit for the certification exam and are not eligible for licensing.

Step 4 – Finish Clinical Training Hours According to MN Requirements

Once you complete your program it is also mandated in the state of Minnesota that you complete your clinical training you are able to take the licensing examination in Minnesota.
