How to become an EMT in Tennessee

Step 1: Meet all the Requirements for Your Program and Training

Step 3: Pass a Board Approved Certification Exam

The state of Tennessee Department of Health requires that after anybody finishes approved training they have to sign u for and pass an approved practical and written certification examination. The NREMT is going to be the easiest exam to find and take. You can feel comfortable about the quality of the tests and that you will be able to use the passing of the exam for your Tennessee EMT certification and license.

Step 4: Get on the EMT Registry and Get License From State

After getting your certification as a EMT, you will have to get your license with the state of Tennessee by applying to the board. Then you will have to get listed on the EMT registry with the NREMT. There are fees that come with both applications (license and registry). All candidates will have to pass a background check (candidates must explain in writing any convictions) and not have any substance related issues within the past 3 years. After passing the certification exams, candidates have 24 months to get their license.
