How to become a dental assistant in Minnesota
The oversight for dental professionals in Minnesota is handled by the Minnesota Dental Board. According to them, there are currently no training requirements for working as a dental assistant in the state of Minnesota. That being said, all dental assistants must have a CPR certificate and work within the guidelines and regulations of the Center for Disease Control’s (MMWR) weekly report in terms of infection control.
The next level of dental assistant in Minnesota above the basic dental assistant is an (LDA) Licensed Dental Assistant. This title can be earned by getting your DANB CDA Ceritfication.
Candidates have three options for becoming an LDA in Minnesota. They are listed for you below.
Option 1 – Graduate from a Minnesota CODA accredited dental assisting training course, graduate from a CODA-accredited program
Option 2 – Graduate from a CODA approved dental assistant training in another state
Option 3 – Complete on the job training and then take and complete an approved training in expanded functions in the state of Minnesota.
