All oversight of dental professionals and dental assistant training in Hawaii is controlled by the Hawaii Board of Dental Examiners. In the Aloha State, all responsibility for working dental assistants to be sufficiently trained is on the licensed dentist that employs them. The licensed supervising dentist must make sure that this training happens and all training must be done at Hawaii Board of Dental Examiners approved sources of training and that they meet OSHA, CDC and ADA standards.
