Patient Care Tech Schools in ColoradoMaking the process of choosing the right patient care tech school in Colorado is made simple with our features below. Patient care technicians work under the supervision of either a doctor, nurse or other medical professional. In the job you will be working with patients that need care and assistance with their daily life directly.

A patient care tech, a nurse aide or nursing assistant are very similar job duties and are similar at the most basic level. Both work with patients that require day to day activity assistance. But that being said, a CNA or the HHA cannot do all the certain procedures that a PCT can do. Patient care techs can do phlebotomy produces or EKG reading or dialysis work. Getting the added certifications make the patient care tech job title perfect for those who want to move on to a higher paying career in healthcare like a registered nurse.

PCTs overall future growth is very solid and will compete with any career within healthcare! Healthcare careers in Colorado are feeling the growth right now and the patient care tech is right towards the top with other health careers that are growing as well!

How to Become a Patient Care Technician in Colorado

To get your CPCT certification in Colorado you will need to have finished a PCT program and shown proof of completion so you can take the certification examination. Program duration in most situation is about 3-9 months. If you go for dialysis or phlebotomy certification, your education will take a while longer depending on the individual program makeup. For example a nurse aide program may be 5 credits and a patient care tech program may be 25 credits encompassing the 5 credit nurse aide training adding phlebotomy and electrocardiogram training as well. That is what leads to the patient care tech separating themselves from the CNA or the HHA.
