Where you receive your EMT training in Nevada will determine if your training is regulated by either the State of Nevada EMS Office (which oversees four Regions of EMS agencies) and the Southern Nevada Health District EMS Office oversees Clark County (the largest population in the state). Becoming an EMT in Nevada
The first thing to do before you start down the road to become a Nevada EMT is recognize the accrediting body for your area of the state. If you live in Clark County you must adhere to the guidelines of the Southern Nevada Health District EMS Office and if you live anywhere else in the state, you are overseen by the regulations of the Nevada EMS Office.
Both regions have training differences that are small but over time they have become more and more similar and based on national requirements.
Step 1: Meet all entry Prerequisites for Nevada EMT Programs
You have to have a high school diploma or GED and be at least 18 years of age to enter EMT training in Nevada. Candidates will also have to be able to speak, write and read in English. Meet the requirements for program entry and you can start looking at perspective schools for your training.
Step 2: Enroll in and Graduate From EMT Training in Nevada
Each region in Nevada has there own approval process for EMT training. We have taken the time to list out the Nevada regions approved schools for you below.
Step 3: Earn a CPR-BLS Certificate
If you want to take the certification exam in Nevada you will have to have a CPR certification that is current and valid. Most schools in Nevada include CPR certificates in their programs. Make sure to ask your school if you do have it in your training. If it is not in your program you will have to get CPR certified at an outside agency or training center.
Step 4: Take and Pass National Registry’s EMT Exams
All candidates in B=Nevada have t take and pass both of the exams in the NREMT certification examination. The written and the practical examinations are based on your accredited training that you get at your approved EMT program. Once you pass the examinations you will become eligible to become licensed in the state of Nevada.

Step 5: Get your Name included in the National EMT Registry
Once you pass the exams for certification, you will have to get listed on the EMT registry and apply fir licensure in the state of Nevada. There is an $80 cost to register with the national EMT registry.
