Step 3: Become CPR Certified
The state of New Jersey requires a CPR certification for the ability to take the certification exam. Most training has CPR certification in the curriculum, but if your training does not, you will have to go to an outside source for a CPR certificate.
Step 4: Pass National Registry’s EMT Cognitive/Psychomotor Tests
All candidates looking at getting certified as an EMT in New Hampshire has to pass the NREMT certification exams. They are two exams that will completely test all your skills and training. After successfully taking and passing the two tests, you will be able to register with the state of New Jersey as a EMT.

Step 5: Get your name put on the EMT Registry and Apply for Licensure
Within a month of finishing your certification process, you have to register with the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians. After doing that you will have to apply for licensure with the New Jersey Office of Emergency Services. Both applications have fees associated with them.
