What tasks a dental assistant can and cannot do in the state of Nebraska is defined by the dental practice act of Nebraska. it states that any basic procedures carry no training requirements but all candidates have to be at least 18 years of age and if they do any tasks involving analgesia, general anesthesia or parenteral sedation, they must have a current BLS certification.

If you are considering becoming a dental assistant that is qualified to do coronal polishing, you will ahve to either finish one year of clinical work experience with a minimum 1500 hours of clinical training time and complete Nebraska Dental Board approved training, or you will have to take and graduate from a program which includes coronal polishing classes that carries a current CODA accreditation.
