Step 1 – Are you Going to get Certified as a Texas Medical Assistant?

Texas does not mandate that all medical assistants be certified to work but it is recommended. Even medical care institutions that employ non-certified medical assistants across Texas are starting to alter their positions. An increasing number of facilities around the nation have started to require their non-certified personnel to enroll in certification training as a condition of remaining employed. But that does not mean that non-certified personnel are not being hired across Texas, because they are. But, the advantages to being certified are growing every year.

Step 2 – How Much Education do you Want to Have?

All aspiring medical assistants in Texas must pass a certificate program or earn their associates degree in medical assisting. For a breakdown of what to expect to learn at each level of education, see our resource here.
