Step 3 – Register for an Accredited Illinois Medical Assisting Training Program

Medical assistant training in Illinois is governed by two associations that are the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs and the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools. If you want eligibility to take the certification exam, you will have to take and complete one of their approved training courses in medical assisting.

Step 4 – Clinical Training in Illinois Must Be Completed for Certification

Finishing a formal training program is mandatory for becoming an Illinois medical assistant. Successfully completing this step requires you to finish the number of hours of hands-on clinical training set by your course. If you do not take this step, you cannot get certified in Illinois.
