How to become a dental assistant in Georgia.

The state of Georgia’s dental industry, which includes its licensing, certifications, dental professionals and dental assistants is governed by the Georgia Board of Dentistry.

Georgia’s dental practice act states that the entry level basic dental assistant does not have any training or certification requirements to do the basic duties and supportive tasks demanded of them on the job. The ability to do any expanded function will require extra certification and training though. We detail that for you below.

(EDDA) Expanded Duty Dental Assistant – To become a Georgia EDDA, candidates have two paths. The first is to have their HS diploma/GED, a CPR certificate, and also they must have completed a Georgia Dental Board approved training in the specific function they wish to perform on the job in Georgia. The second path is to have a current DANB (CDA) certification and training in the expanded functions they wish to perform in Georgia on the job.

Performing x-ray functions in Georgia requires the taking of a 6 hour training program lad out at the link here.
