Step 3 – Satisfy training requirement for South Carolina
After you finish 100 hours in class and an additional 40 hours of hands-on clinical training you will be eligible to take the NNAAP certification test.
Step 4 – Pass South Carolina CNA certification test
In South Carolina, you have to pass an exam to get your CNA license. The test given for CNA licensing is the NNAAP and the test is given by the testing company PearsonVue. You can go to PersonVue’s website here for dates and times available for testing.
The cost of a full examination is $101. The cost of a skills evaluation retest exam is $71. The oral or written exam retest is a cost of $31.
Step 5 – Get listed on the SC Nurse Aide Registry
The South Carolina Department of Health And Human Services runs the CNA registry for South Carolina. The list is all the employable and certified nurse aides in South Carolina. To get on the registry, you must take and pass the certification exam. Once you have done so, PearsonVue will contact the South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services to get your name on the registry. The process takes about 2 weeks to complete.
